What is the hardest thing that you cannot do with your iPhone? Answer: to answer calls, send text and e-mails in a weather that's 20 degrees below zero. Try it with your bare hands and you'd most likely freeze your hands in no time.
Now there is a solution. Use gloves designed for iPhone use. A company called 4sight Products Inc. has managed to come up with a $40 gloves that have electrically conductive gold-colored material on the tip of the index finger and thumb.

The gloves are not perfect yet, but Apple seems to think it's a good idea.

The gloves are sold under the Tavo brand. Check out the site if you want to buy a pair.

The Samsung NC20 has not been released in the U.S. yet, but it looks like the Europeans will get the first taste of the Samsung NC20, NC10's big brother.
The Ukrainian market could enjoy the Samsung NC20 early as GaGadget managed to get their hands on the netbook.

The mini notebook N20 is also making its way to Germany, says Netbok News.de.

The NC20 has a 12.1-inch screen and one of the first computers to use the new VIA Nano processor. European online retail shops are already selling the NC20 for about 499 Euros or $659 US.

It is official. Acer Aspire One netbook will have a bigger screen version. Acer will introduce the Acer Aspire One 10-inch screen with a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution.
I used to own the Acer Aspire One 8.9" screen but was disappointed with the battery life of only 2.5 hours. This new Acer Aspire One 10-inch will sport a 6-cell battery that is good for up to 7 hours of usage.

According to Slashgear, other features of the Acer Aspire One 10-inch include a support of up to 2GB of RAM. It might begin shipping in February, that's next month.

I am using a Samsung NC10 netbook. It could give me around 6 to 7 hours of battery time. That is long enough to even finish writing a very long report.
If you intend to extend the battery life to 10 hours, there is a solution to that. Get the extended battery on eBay. A seller from Hong Kong is selling a 9 cell, 7800mAh batteries for the Samsung NC10.

Price of the extended battery is $100.

Flight 1549 enters from the left at about the two-minute mark:

Here is another video of the landing of Flight 1549 from another angle:

I would have liked the M&A Companion Touch, which is based on Intel's Classmate 3 design, had it not because of its 8.9 inch screen. I prefer a 10" netbook/mini laptop. When I had the Acer Aspire One, 8.9", it didn't last long with me. I sold it to a friend. But the M&A Companion Touch may still get my nod since it is a touchscreen tablet with a full keyboard and its price if less than $500.
M&A Companion Touch features/specs:

- 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU
- Windows XP
- 4 cell battery
- 1G of RAM
- 60GB hard drive
- 802.11b/g/n
- 2 USB 2.0 ports
- SD card slot
- VGA port

You can buy the M&A Companion Touch here for $499.99.

Most netbooks do not have a CD/DVD drive because mainly of the dimension limitation. With a size as small as a portable DVD player (a thickness of about an inch) where can you fit in a DVD drive? So is there a netbook or mini-laptop model with a DVD drive?

Answer: Yes. So far, there are two. The first one is the ASUS Eee PC 1004Dn. It has a look similar to that of the Eee PC 1002HA, but it has the a disc drive that could read and burn DVDs and CDs. Cool huh! The problem is, the American market may not see it soon. It may be released in China and Europe.

ASUS Eee PC 1004Dn specifications/features:
* CPU: 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280
* Display: 10.2 inch, 1024 x 600 pixels
* RAM: 1GB
* HDD: 160GB
* Connectivity: 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth
* Expansion: 3 USB ports, 1 VGA port
* Dimensions: 10.4″ x 7.1″ x 1″

The latest company to announce the release of netbooks with a DVD drive is Japan’s Mouse Computers. It may launch the LB-F1500 netbook.

Mouse Computers LB-F1500 netbook features/specifications:
- 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU
- 10.2 inch
- 1024 x 600 pixel display
- 1GB of RAM
- 160GB Hard drive
- DVD Super Multi Drive.
- Windows XP
- 802.11b/g support
- 5.2 hours of battery life

The price? It could be around $750 US.

I have been waiting for Gigabyte to come up with a 10-inch netbook. Gigabyte M912 was the first netbook that I was eyeing for many months ago. I specifically like its tablet mode. The only downside of it was the price. Gigabyte M912 costs too much for a netbook vis-a-vis the other existing, equally-efficient netbooks in the market today.

Now that Gigabyte is planning to release 10-inch line of netbooks, I might give it a try. DigiTimes reports that the company is planning to launch 3 new netbook models with 10" screens during the second quarter of 2009.

The new models will still have the touchscreen feature and the tablet mode. The price? Don't know exactly yet. A retail price of below $500 will be the best price for netbook competition.
