Acer Aspire One 10" is here

1 comments | Friday, January 23, 2009

It is official. Acer Aspire One netbook will have a bigger screen version. Acer will introduce the Acer Aspire One 10-inch screen with a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution.
I used to own the Acer Aspire One 8.9" screen but was disappointed with the battery life of only 2.5 hours. This new Acer Aspire One 10-inch will sport a 6-cell battery that is good for up to 7 hours of usage.

According to Slashgear, other features of the Acer Aspire One 10-inch include a support of up to 2GB of RAM. It might begin shipping in February, that's next month.

Acer Aspire One at Walmart for $348

0 comments | Sunday, November 09, 2008

I was having my usual routine at Walmart, checking on new electronic stuff on the shelf when I noticed a netbook placed side by side with other much bigger laptops. It's the Acer Aspire One, blue color. It was the first time I saw the blue version and to tell you frankly, I like the dark shade of blue. It was not so fancy-looking yet even classy to some extent.
The netbook is priced at $348 with the following specs/features:

- Intel Atom processor N270, 1.60 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 512 KB L2 cache
- 8.9"
- 1024MB DDR 533MHz Dual Channel Memory
- 120GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
- Windows XP Home
- Acer Crystal Eye Webcam
- 3 - USB 2.0 Ports
- Multi-in-1 Card Reader
- Acer InviLink 802.11b/g Wi-Fi
- 3-cell Li-ion (2200 mAh) Battery
- 2.19 lbs.

I checked Walmart online and found out the they are also selling it for the same price. The white version is out of stock though, as of this writing. The blue color is available and ready for purchase.

ACER Aspire One vs. Toshiba Satellite

0 comments | Friday, October 10, 2008

I know I should not compare the two. It's just that I had this ACER Aspire One netbook for almost two months now and I have not written about it. I bought mine (Windows XP OS) from Amazon for $480.
So far, so good. I don't have complaints about the netbook. This thing is super small that it fits to a tiny backpack. I can watch videos without problems, XP seems to run perfectly on this little machine and I have not noticed any lags. The wireless works great and can quickly find a signal, much even faster than my 15" Toshiba laptop.

The built-in webcam looks and works okay. I already used the machine for my PPT presentations and connected it to a video projector. The results were simply amazing for a netbook.

I had to get used though to the mouse buttons positioned on the side of the mouse pad. There is no CD drive, but that is understandable and I do not find that as a drawback.

ACER Aspire One is an amazing machine that is worth your money. Here are more pictures of the ACER Aspire One vs. Toshiba Satellite, just to have a comparison of the size.
