IdeaPad S10-3 is Lenovo's newest netbook. I already own a Lenovo netbook, one of the many I have, but this one is a bit cheaper at $379.99 and with rounded corners.

Lenovo Windows 7 netbooks, laptops revealed

Lenovo revealed on Monday its Windows 7-powered lineup of IdeaPad netbooks and laptops -- the 11.6-inch IdeaPad U150, the 15.6-inch U550 and the 15.6-inch IdeaPad Y550P.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y550P is the most powerful laptop in Lenovo’s consumer portfolio and is its first notebook to offer new Intel Core i7 processors. In addition to that comes NVIDIA discrete graphics, a 15.6-inch HD widescreen display, Dolby Home Theater surround sound, and a “SlideNav” touch-sensitive bar above the keyboard for quick tasks. It will be available soon for $1,149.

The Lenovo IdeaPad U150, built for portability, is only 0.53 in. thick and weighs less than 3 lbs. Inside comes an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, support for up to 8GB DDR3 memory, 11.6-inch HD widescreen display and lengthy battery life. It’s got the company’s Active Protection System for hard drive shock protection and the OneKey Rescue System for faster data backups and antivirus scans. It will be available soon for $585.

The Lenovo IdeaPad U550 is an ultraportable that’s supposed to straddle home and work lives. It’s 0.94 in. thick and sports a 15.6-inch wide HD widescreen display, Intel Core 2 Duo processor, switchable discrete graphics, Dolby Sound Room surround sound, ambient light sensor, DVD drive, integrated fingerprint reader and VeriFace facial recognition software. It will be available for $650.

Lenovo Constant Connect with BlackBerry

You can now constantly connect your Lenovo laptop with your Blackberry phone even when the computer is off or in standby mode.

Lenovo Group Ltd., maker of the ThinkPad, and Research In Motion Ltd., maker of the BlackBerry, have together created an accessory card for the laptops that will wirelessly download e-mail through the owner's BlackBerry, even when the computer is off or in standby mode.

That means that when the ThinkPad boots up, new e-mail will already be loaded. There's no need to establish a secure Internet connection to the employer's servers. The user will also be able to send e-mail from the ThinkPad through the BlackBerry without an additional Internet connection.

The "Lenovo Constant Connect" card will let users combine the always-on nature of the BlackBerry with the larger keyboard and screen of the laptop, said Rick Cheston, executive director at Lenovo. For instance, a traveler could flip open the laptop to do some quick e-mailing at an airport layover, rather than spending time to set up Internet access, he said.

The card will cost $150 or less when Lenovo starts selling it in the second quarter in the U.S. It will be available in the rest of the world later this year. Initially it will work only with Microsoft Corp.'s Outlook e-mail client, but Lenovo is working on supporting IBM Corp.'s Lotus Notes as well, Cheston said.

ThinkPads made last summer or later will be compatible with the Constant Connect card, and BlackBerrys made in the last few years will work with it, he added.

The card connects to a BlackBerry through the Bluetooth wireless technology. When the computer is off, the card stores new e-mail in flash memory.

It is already possible to connect a computer to the Internet through the Bluetooth feature of some phones, but this is a more lengthy, complicated process, and the computer must be fully on. [/quote]

Lenovo S10 facial recognition feature

Lenovo S10 will soon be releasing an "upgraded" line to its current netbooks. The new Lenovo S10 will carry new features such as facial recognition application that works as its security feature.

Two other features will be included: Quick Start and Lenovo Social. Lenovo social gives you access to forums, blogs, and basic information about accessing social media sites like Facebook, MySpace, and Flickr.

Reports have it that the new Lenovo S10 will be available in March.
