What netbooks or mini-laptops have included an optional wireless broadband modem and service plan in the United States? So far, there are just two -- Dell Inspiron Mini 9 and the HP Mini 1000.

Users of Dell Inspiron Mini 9 netbook running Windows XP have the option of adding a 3G HSPA modem to their units. It is a bit pricey at $125, but after signing up for a 2 year AT&T service plan, you get $120 back.

HP is also offering all US customers the option of adding an internal mobile broadband modem in their units. While Dell Inspiron Mini 9 option works for AT&T network, HP works for AT&T or Verizon’s wireless broadband networks. However, HP's option will cost you an extra $199. You also have to have these HP features in order to purchase the modem: 60GB HD and 1GB RAM.

What about if you just buy a USB modem from AT&T or Verizon? It might be a better deal as you can plug it in any laptop.

Why need a mobile broadband modem? If you are a traveler and you find yourself always stuck in the middle of nowhere without a WiFi connectivity, then the broadband modem will surely work for you.

Living in South Dakota is inexpensive. This is because this central State does not have big cities like New York or Minneapolis. Sioux Falls, which is one of SD's busiest cities, is not even busy enough in my own standards. But that is what sets it apart from the rest of the U.S. cities. Tourists visiting Sioux Falls can save few hundred bucks from food and luxuries. Expect that when you travel here, you will get your every penny's worth.
Hotels and inns are cheap too. You can find a number of them with less than a $100 a night. I traveled to Utah one time and paid around $130 a night. Sioux Falls has the best hotel deals.

List of hotels you may want to check out in your next travel.

# Best Western Empire Towers - $74
This Sioux Falls Best Western Empire Towers is nestled in Sioux Falls best retail district. Just across the street in the Empire Mall which is home to over 180 stores.

# Ramada Inn Suites Airport - $89
The Ramada Inn and Suites of Sioux Falls, South Dakota is located right off of I-29 at exit 81, Russell Street, next to the Sioux Falls Convention Center and Arena.

# AmericInn Sioux Falls - $79
Business and leisure travelers are accommodated with a desk, in room coffeemaker, dataports, free continental breakfast and the only frequent traveler program that pays you 40.00USD after every 10 nights of lodging.

# TownePlace Suites by Marriott Sioux - $89
TownePlace Suites, Sioux Falls offers residential living that provides you with a moderately priced all-suite extended stay hotel.

# Sheraton Sioux Falls Hotel - $95
The Sheraton Sioux Falls offers moderately priced rooms with easy access to the Convention Center. In the hotel's impressive lobby, guests will find waterfalls set in an attractive botanical atrium.

# Baymont Inn and Suites - $69
The hotel is located adjacent to Sioux Falls' premier entertainment and shopping district with the Empire Mall only 4 blocks from its doorstep.

# Fairfield Inn Sioux Falls - $85
Fairfield Inn Hotel is a cozy 63-room hotel with newly renovated guest rooms and is located next to the Empire Mall which features Younkers, Marshall Fields, JC Penney and Sears.

Take your pick and enjoy the sights of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Oh, don't forget to visit the leaning tower of Sioux Falls.

Airfares vary every season, every week, every day, even at the time of day you fly. Peak seasons such as Christmas or mid-summer are usually expensive to fly, airfares can double and you'd end up paying much more than if you travel at any other times of year.
One strategy that most travelers do is to book flights early. For international trips, it is recommended to reserve your tickets 6 months (even a year) before your intended trip. When you browse for airfares online, try to change your day of departure. Sometimes, a single day can make a difference in your airfare cost. I have read somewhere that the best day to purchase a ticket online is Wednesday. I am not sure if this is true.

There are a lot of websites offering cheap airline tickets (domestic or international). When I travel domestically within the U.S., I always take advantage of my being a PhD student and purchase my ticket at Student Universe. The site offers big discounts after confirmation of your student status. However, the availability of the tickets are so limited. StudentUniverse.com doesn't have available flights to foreign countries most of the time. When I searched, for instance, a flight that goes to the Philippines, I always get a note of "does not have any student seats available".

Kayak.com probably is one site that you can get best airfare deals. I browsed for a flight to the Philippines using the data below:

Departure city: Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Departure date: December 10, 2008
Destination city: Manila, Philippines
Return date: January 14, 2008

Kayak.com returned 432 results with $1629 as the cheapest airfare via United Airlines with 2 stops. Not that expensive than what I initially thought, knowing it's a Christmas season and people are going home.

I tried another site that I stumbled upon in a forum -- farecast.live.com. Results showed 236 flight options with the cheapest fare of $1631, just two dollar more than kayak.com. I don't understand why this one is a "little" expensive when the total travel time is in fact an hour longer than the one offered by kayak.com.

Then I tried www.bt-store.com. I've heard the site has good deals for cheap international flights. Wrong. Using the same flight, day, time, the cheapest I could get is $2014. That's too way expensive.

If I have to choose, no doubt that I will go for kayak's price: lesser by two dollars and shorter travel time. So far, I find Kayak.com a great site for finding affordable airfares.

Leave me a comment of you know of more sites with the best air ticket deals.

I was watching a while ago Travel Channel's Top 10 creepiest places. I think they were only ranking places in some parts of the world, mostly U.S. They included in the list places like Salem and Roswell, places we got to know from horror movies or sci-fi TV shows.

I would suggest Travel Channel should visit the Philippines. They would realize that every corner in our country is somewhat creepy. LOL. Do agree with me?

Their ranking criteria include ghosts and hauntings, mysterious disappearances and murders. Don't we have all these in the Philippines? We have more, even.

Anyway, here are the Top 10 creepiest places:

10.Lizzie Borden Bed-and-Breakfast

9.Winchester Mystery House

8.Roswell

7.Salem

6.New Orleans

5.Gettysburg

4.Mütter Museum of Medical History

3.Tower of London

2.Haunted Hollywood

1.Bermuda Triangle

What is your creepiest place?

Are fond of documenting your travels and sharing your favorite places to your friends and family? You should use Placefav. It is a simple tool that lets you keep track of and share your favorite places anyone you want. Placefav allows you to make a simple list of your favorite neighborhood spots, then share it as easily as passing around a link.
The layout is simple, as the site is still in its early stages, but it is good enough for me. The photos are linked to a map, so people would know where exactly are the locations of the photo.

Be the first to try Placefav, an easy way to share your favorite places.

When you travel, the little things that you bring with you are what normally count in times of emergency. I am talking about what is inside your travel kit.

The little bag inside your huge luggage is just as important as the rest of your things. The travel kit serves as the savior when situations don't seem to be the way you think it might be. Take this example. You went hiking the whole day and unexpectedly, suffered leg cramps when you hit the bed in the evening. What will you do? If the pain is unbearable, you may call 911. Or most likely, you may ask for help from the front desk. However, if you have some pain killers in your kit, the misery disappears in no time.

I had an experience before when I rented a motel room somewhere in the mid-west. I checked in late at night. As I was about to take a shower, I noticed that the motel didn't provide a shampoo nor a bath soap. For others who expect to see these things to be provided would surely go cursing endlessly. I didn't. I had those stuff ready in my little kit -- a savior to the rescue!

Be ready, as boy scouts say. When you go to a weekend trip somewhere far, try to bring those little light stuff you think the hotel won't provide, or you might need on your trip. Bring medicines with you: pain relievers/fever reducers, creams for insects bites and allergy, a small bottle of NyQuil for cold/flu relief. Bring your vitamins too even it is just a two-day trip. There is a section in WalMart where you can pick things for your travel kit - shampoo, soap, toothpaste, mouthwash, cotton buds, and a lot more.

Travel light. Your travel kit must be as light as possible. Don't be paranoid to bring things that are very unnecessary. Don't bring all your colognes, one is enough. I would suggest you buy a travel kit that has lots of compartments inside so organization would be easy and you wouldn't have a hard time finding each stuff when they're needed.

So what is inside your travel kit?
