Europe has seen the increase of netbook sales for the past year. The small, cheap computer is slowly taking some of the market from laptops.
Netbook shipments take ten per cent of the 27.9m PCs shipped into Europe in Q3 this year. The forecast is that, netbook shipments will rocket almost 100 per cent to just shy of 4m units during the current quarter due to the arrival of new players like Apricot, LG, Samsung, Toshiba and Fujitsu Siemens, all of who are releasing netbooks this month or early next.
The leading netbook brands in Europe are:
1. Acer with a market share of 21.3 per cent in Q3, up from 14.2 per cent a year earlier
2. HP (18.7 per cent)
3. Dell (9.5 per cent)
4. Asus (7.4 per cent)
5. Toshiba (5.8 per cent)
