Brookings, South Dakota is full of greens. I think the best word to describe the small city is "greens". You find quite a number of parks that are quite close to each other. Jog from one park to another...and admission to these parks is FREE.
1. Pioneer Park - Along sixth street, on the west side of Brookings.
2. Sexauer Park - Northwest. Overnight camping, picnic area and playground.
3. Hillcrest Park - Along sixth street. Lighted tennis complex, swimming pool, picnic area with sink, grills and shelter, basketball court and playground.
4. Larson community Park - 22nd avenue south. For walkers and joggers. With playground and picnic area.
5. Southside Park - Main avenue south. Lighted softball field, picnic area, basketball court and playground.
6. Northbrook - North Medary avenue. Community gardens, go-kart tracks, outdoor archery range.
7. Edgebrook - 22nd Avenue south. Edgebrook golf course and 20 station exercise course.
8. Lions Park - Medary avenue. Picnic area, playground, basketball court and ice skating rink in the winter.
9. Skateboard Park - South of the high school. Variety of ramps for skateboarders and roller bladers.
Note: All parks close at 11PM.
